More than 3,000 disciples joined together in Des Moines, IW from July 20 through July 24 for the General Assembly of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), “Abide in Me (John 15:1-5).” Everyone was blessed by powerful preaching, uplifting music, sharing the Lord’s Supper, workshops, bible studies, and many more.
NAPAD did a crucial role in this event. Not only the Tongan drummers opened and closed the assembly through their inspirational performance but also NAPAD hosted aftersession, dinner, and workshop. Through these experiences, we present how the diversity and the unity can be achieved in our community. We also had a great opportunity to meet old and new friends and connect with other disciples.
One of the key moments of the GA was the announcement of 2020 Experience: “It’s Real!” During the Tuesday business session, Rev. Chung Seong Kim (NAPAD), Rev. Lori Tapia (Obra Hispana), and Rev. Dr. Timothy James held the banner together and promoted our joint experience. We look forward to seeing NAPAD siblings next year in Fort Worth, TX. The 2020 Experience will take place on July 22-25, 2020.
